The group «Versaute Stiefkinder», which means «Vile stepsons» in German, was formed in May 1993 in eastern Germany. The band members, who previously played in bands such as «Umsturz im Kinderzimmer», «Coka Coma» and «Atonal», got tired of the dull local punk scene and decided to do something more interesting.
Their first recording was the «Bunkerchaoten» cassette. In 1994, after a series of performances, the group released the singles Die Ruhe vor dem Sturm (Calm Before the Storm) and Verlierer (Loser). Two years later, in 1996, they released their first album Die Demokratie muss gelegentlich in Blut gebadet werden (Democracy must drown in blood), which became scandalous due to the political position expressed in the lyrics.
The line-up at this time was as follows: Murks (drums), E-Hans (guitar), O.L. (guitar), Reni (bass), Babsi (vocals) and Liesel (vocals), who is also the author of all the lyrics. In 1998 the second album «Die Zeichen stehn auf Krieg» («Signs portend war») was released, the sound and lyrics of which became even more harsh. This album remains one of the most aggressive in the German punk scene to this day.
