Upstanding Youth is a six piece ska-punk-reggae band from Oahu, Hawaii. They began performing in 2001 and since then have written, recorded, and produced four CDs. Each of their self produced CDs, Trying to Stand (2002), Kam Highway Catharsis (2003), STILL (2006), and A Sense of Urgency (2008) have won Best Ska/Punk Album of the year at the Hawaiian Music Awards.
Their latest CD, A Sense of Urgency, delivers the same powerful and compelling ska/punk vibes fans have come to expect from UY, but with deeper textures and a more distinctive rock edge to the music. A dramatic re-imagining of the band’s production process has resulted in a more coherent and musically elaborate offering.
