Safety Catch is a skatepunk band from Switzerland that started in the late 90’s. Although the band is actually located in Switzerland, everything started in Venezuela. In fact, the members of this band are three brothers from Venezuela and that’s where they started to play music, a very long time ago. In the beginning, they started under the name This Side Up, and they were getting some popularity in their country. But in 2000, they decide to make a trip to Swiss, Belgium and England to record a 3-song demo entitled Don’t Care. When they come back from their trip with the demo, they are forced to change their name to Safety Catch because another punk band is already called This Side Up, and they start to make a lot of shows in Venezuela.
They become quite popular there and they are even approached by Sony and Emi Music, which want to totally change the image of the band. Fortunately, the guys decline the offers and keep their fast punk sound. In 2002 they move to Switzerland and record a second demo entitled Hide And Seek. They will then start to tour with bands like Uncommonmenfrommars, Burning Heads, etc and start their own recording studio where they will record in 2004 the album New Life which is distributed by Leech Redda in 2005. In 2009, the guys plan to release a second album, but there arent any new about this since a while.
